"NEA's Read Across America is an annual reading modivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss.  Motivating children to read is an important factor in student achievement and creating lifelong successful readers.  Researdh has shown that children who are motivated and spend more time reading do better in school."

Due FSA testing, Ponce de Leon Elementary School will be celebrating Read Across America February 22nd-26th.  Students are encouraged to dress up on those days based on selected Dr. Seuss books and themes.  Teachers will incorporate some additional activities in their classrooms throughout the week to celebrate and promote reading.  The dress up schedule for each day is listed below.

February 22nd is "Fox in Socks" Monday ~ Wear crazy socks.

February 23rd is "Green Eggs & Ham" ~ Wear green

February 24th is "Wacky Wednesday" ~ Wear sometyhing wacky

February 25th is "Cat in the Hat" Thursday ~ Wear your coolest, craziest or favorite hat.

February 26th is "Sleep Book" Friday/Read Quest ~ Wear you favorite pair of PJs


Every studnet that meets his/her grade-level AR goal (noted below) on Friday, February 26th will get a sucker from Mrs. Zorn, our school libraian!
